If I join the Aggie Band, what is the Corps of Cadets obligation?

The Aggie Band is a special unit in Corps of Cadets, and ROTC Military Organization. In addition to the requirements of Aggie Band drill, cadets of the Aggie Band must also fulfill their Corps obligations. This includes physical training, attending drill & ceremony classes, morning & evening formations, wearing a uniform to class, as well as promoting/participating in the traditions of Texas A&M University. While the Aggie Band is the "Pulse of Aggieland" ,the Corps of Cadets prides itself as "Keepers of the Spirit" and thus the preservers of the traditions of Aggieland.



How can I get a better look of the Aggie Band?

The best way to see the Aggie Band as well as the Corps is with a free visit, hosted by cadets to see what a day in the Corps is like. Complete with tours of the campus, the Spend the Night With the Corps Program is the best way to see A&M and is open to everyone looking for more information about A&M or the Corps.


I've been admitted to Texas A&M, how do I join the Aggie Band?

When you come for your New Student Conference, you will have the opportunity to sign up for the Corps, choose which outfit you want to join, and pick which ROTC program you will enter. Also during the Conference, you will need to go to the Band Room to tryout.


When do I audition for the Aggie Band?

Prospective members will audtion during their New Student Conference. You will be asked to sight read music and play a few scales. It is appropriate to bring your instrument with you to your summer new student conference for the purpose of an audition. All prospective members of the Aggie Band are required to have had both high school playing and marching band experience. Make sure to contact the band room to schedule an audition time.


Are there any differences between the 4 band outfits?

Each outfit differs in size and individually, each have their own traditions, pride and mottos. Regardless of which outfit a prospect wishes to join, they will still receive the same training , drill, and discipline.

When and where can I see the Aggie Band perform?

The best time to see the Aggie Band perform is at Aggie football games. Check the football schedule or the band calendar which includes other performances such as parades. Also, News & Events are posted on the bottom left corner of the Aggie Band Home Page.
